Appointment of Professor Ahmed Hamad as the New Vice President forAcademic Affairs

Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) has announced the appointment of Prof. Ahmed Hamad as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. He will oversee the implementation of the university's academic strategy, which focuses on fostering innovation, promoting values of development and creativity, and enhancing the role of distinguished scientific research and future science programs. Since its establishment, EUI has been a prestigious academic beacon in Egypt, Africa, and the Middle East, aligned with the aspirations of Egypt's Vision 2030.

 

Prof. Hamad holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Orsay University in France, obtained in 1981 in the field of electronic systems analysis. He has more than 70 research papers published in international and local conferences and journals, in various fields of information technology.

 

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Military Technical College in Cairo in May 1971, graduating with honors. He also obtained a postgraduate diploma in aviation systems (avionics) from the Military Technical College in 1972, and a Master of Science in Aircraft Electronics Systems from Brno University in Czechoslovakia in 1977.

 

Prof. Reem Bahgat, EUI’s President congratulated Prof. Hamad on his appointment as Vice President for Academic Affairs, emphasizing that he is a distinguished academic figure who will be a strong addition to the university. She noted that they will work together according to the university's governing strategy, aiming to reach advanced positions in global rankings, leveraging the university’s resources.

 

For his part, Prof. Hamad expressed his happiness in taking on this role and joining such a prestigious academic institution, which carries Egypt’s name and specializes in informatics. He highlighted the crucial role the university plays in preparing generations equipped with modern sciences, who will later become torchbearers of informational enlightenment, contributing to transforming visions into reality.

 

He emphasized that the university’s mission to prepare future leaders in the technological sector is largely being achieved, as this priority is reflected in the high quality of education and the dedication of both academic and administrative staff.

 

Prof. Hamad has a distinguished record of academic, research, and community contributions, including:

  • Emeritus Professor of Computer Systems at Ain Shams University.

  • Assistant Professor of Electronic Systems, 1989.

  • Professor of Digital Electronics, 1997.

  • Lifetime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

  • Member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) since 2005.

  • Head of the Aircraft Electronics Department at the Military Technical College (1992-1996).

  • Professor in the Computer Systems Department, Faculty of Computers and Information, Ain Shams University, May 1998.

  • Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Vice Dean for Environmental Affairs and Community at the Faculty of Computers and Information, Ain Shams University (September 1998 – November 2004).

  • Dean of the Faculty of Information Systems and Computer Sciences at 6th of October University (November 2004 – November 2008).

  • Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science at the British University in Egypt (December 2008 – October 2014).

  • Elected representative for the Arab region in UNESCO's Global Monitoring Report on Higher Education for 2016 and 2017.

  • Served as President of the British University in Egypt (October 2014 – February 2021).

  • Vice President of Al-Hayat University in Cairo (September 2022 - February 2023).

  • President of Al-Riyada University from March to December 2023.
