Prof. Ahmed Mohamed Hamad
EUI’s President for Academic Affairs
Professor Ahmed Mohamed Hamad has been appointed officially as EUI's Vice President for Academic Affairs in September 2024. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Orsay, France, in 1981, focusing on electronic systems analysis. His academic journey includes roles as Demonstrator, Assistant Professor, and eventually Professor at the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, Ain-Shams University, starting in 1998.
Administratively, Prof. Hamad held several prominent positions, including Vice-Dean and later Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science at the British University in Egypt (BUE), where he served as President from 2014 to 2021. He has also been Vice President of Al Hayah University and President of Al Ryada University. Internationally, he represented the Arabic region for UNESCO’s Global Monitoring Report on Higher Education in 2016 and 2017.
Prof. Hamad has authored over 70 papers in various fields of information technology, contributing significantly to both international and local conferences and journals
- Ph.D. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Orsay, France, specializing in Electronic Systems Analysis in 1981
- Master of Science Degree in Aircraft Electronic Systems from the University of Brno, Czechoslovakia, in 1977.
- Post-graduate Diploma in Avionics Systems (Aviation Electronics) from MTC in 1972.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Military Technical College (MTC), Cairo, in May 1971, with an excellent grade and a degree of honor.
- IEEE member of Computer and Communication societies since 1988. Currently Life-Member 2021.
- ACM member since 2005
- More than 70 papers in the international and local conferences, journals, and proceedings in different fields of information technology
