H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly Visits EUI Campus

During his visit to the Knowledge City, H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, toured Egypt University of Informatics (EUI), passing through the iconic glass pyramid at the heart of the city.
Upon arriving at the university, the Minister of Communications informed the Prime Minister that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, established Egypt University of Informatics within the city. The university serves as a pillar of an integrated information community, offering students opportunities to benefit from research and development centers, training centers, startup incubators, and both international and local companies operating in the field of communications and information technology.
The university is committed to forming academic and research partnerships with prestigious international universities. Graduates receive a degree from Egypt University of Informatics as well as another from a partnered foreign university. Through dual-degree agreements, students spend their final year at an agreed-upon international campus while taking some integrated courses from the partner university during their initial years at EUI.
While touring the university, Prof. Ahmed Hamad, Vice President of Egypt University of Informatics for Academic Affairs, stated that the university is a leading academic institution offering specialized educational programs to meet labor market demands in the latest fields of information and communication technology. He emphasized that the university aims to prepare Egypt’s youth for future sciences by providing distinguished specializations across its four faculties.
As part of this mission, the Vice President highlighted the university’s achievements, including establishing an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center in communications and information technology. This initiative aligns with the university’s vision to foster a culture of innovation and promote scientific research and development in modern technological fields. The university also collaborates with industry leaders to offer students hands-on training alongside theoretical studies comparable to those in top global universities. EUI has signed agreements allowing its students to earn dual degrees from Purdue University, the University of Minnesota in the United States, and the University of Ottawa in Canada. Last summer, the first group of students traveled to partner universities and achieved outstanding academic results. Preparations are currently underway for the second batch to travel.
Additionally, the Vice President emphasized that EUI has become the preferred destination for athletes by offering a flexible study program, scholarships for Egypt’s sports champions, and an academic environment that supports their careers.
During his tour, the Prime Minister visited specialized laboratories across the university’s four faculties, including the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Lab at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information. This lab features advanced robots and equipment that provide students with opportunities for innovation and development. These robots are also used in course projects and student graduation projects. These labs aim to enhance students’ practical and applied skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for local, regional, and international job markets.
Students also presented the EGTTS program, a model developed by the Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences at EUI for converting text into clear Egyptian Arabic speech. This AI-powered program processes Arabic text and transforms it into high-quality speech. The faculty aims to develop this model to support applications relying on voice communication, such as phone calls and AI-driven personalized education. The importance and value of this project are especially significant now, as it aligns with the country’s aspirations to localize artificial intelligence and its applications.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly then listened to a group of students from the Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences, who explained how the university’s location within the Knowledge City, near training institutes affiliated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, allowed them to join various training programs alongside their studies. The university’s distinguished academic programs have enabled them to secure job opportunities while studying and receive scholarships to complete their studies at the University of Minnesota.
Several students shared their reasons for choosing Egypt University of Informatics and the field of computing and information sciences, as well as how they have benefited from their studies. One third-year student discussed his participation in a scientific research project on artificial intelligence, which was published at an international conference in 2024 as part of the faculty’s efforts to enhance students’ research skills.
The Prime Minister also met students from the Faculty of Business Informatics, where one student explained how the faculty helped her obtain an internationally accredited certificate from the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA). She praised the faculty’s outstanding courses, which enabled her to study at this global institution. This initiative is part of the university’s efforts to help students earn top-tier international professional certifications in business technology. Another student shared his experience of applying what he learned in the faculty to establish a startup providing digital solutions for businesses.
Another student mentioned that the faculty enabled him to continue his studies in Canada and earn a degree from the University of Ottawa, which has a collaboration agreement with EUI. This experience helped him gain international exposure, as the curricula at both universities are aligned, preparing him well for the global job market.
One student also praised the university’s educational environment, which equips students with comprehensive skills in negotiation and problem-solving. These skills allowed him to represent Egypt at the Global Climate Summit.
The Prime Minister then visited the Mechatronics Lab at the Faculty of Engineering, where he observed a range of machines that integrate mechanics and electronics. These facilities help students gain in-depth knowledge of mechatronics, including designing, manufacturing, and programming electronic and mechanical devices.
During the visit, engineering students shared their academic experiences at EUI and abroad, particularly at Purdue University, under the agreements between the two institutions. One student, who was among Egypt’s top high school graduates, described how he joined EUI through the Presidential Scholarship Program.
The students also demonstrated their use of the lab’s equipment and showcased their achievements in software development. They presented a hands-on project where they programmed a sorting machine to categorize items by color and another project where they programmed a robot to perform specific movements.
The Prime Minister concluded his visit by touring the Mac Lab at the Faculty of Digital Arts and Design. This lab is equipped with specialized devices tailored for high-performance 3D design programs that surpass the capabilities of conventional computers.
The lab features iMacs and MacBook Pros with cutting-edge processors and advanced GPUs, enabling seamless operation of professional software. It also includes large digital drawing tablets, providing students with a unique competitive advantage.
During the visit, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly met with students who highlighted the university’s support in refining their skills through a distinctive educational environment that blends theoretical and practical learning. This integrated approach prepares them for professional careers in digital design, game development, and user experience, equipping them to work as independent game developers or within major gaming companies. The students showcased their work, from conceptualizing game ideas to character design and final production.
At the end of his visit, the Prime Minister praised the university’s capabilities and the excellence of its students, expressing his gratitude and pride in their achievements.
