The Logistics Innovation Summit 2025 kicks off at EUI!

The Logistics Innovation Summit Egypt 2025 officially kicked off today under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, hosted at the campus of Egypt University of Informatics (EUI). The summit was attended by Prof. Ahmed Khattab, Director of the National Telecommunications Institute, who delivered a speech on behalf of the minister, alongside a large gathering of government leaders, innovators, experts, and executives from leading global and Egyptian logistics technology companies.

Prof. Ahmed Hamad, Acting President of Egypt University of Informatics, stated that the summit aims to shed light on Egypt's plans and projects to develop infrastructure that supports various economic activities, particularly the industrial and export sectors. These sectors heavily rely on efficient and cost-effective transport and shipping services. Accordingly, the government is implementing a series of national projects in smart infrastructure, such as establishing the world's largest dry port, with investments exceeding $100 million. This reflects Egypt's commitment to achieving a qualitative leap in its logistics capabilities in line with Egypt Vision 2030, particularly in advancing digital transformation strategies. Naturally, this opens numerous investment opportunities in the logistics sector for both the local and international private sectors.

He further emphasized that hosting the summit is an opportunity to highlight EUI’s role as a national catalyst for innovation and a hub for attracting international technological investment. This enhances the university’s impact within Egypt’s knowledge economy, especially through its innovative projects in financial technology, business technology, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence (AI), which have become central to many industries and services.

Prof. Hamad added that technological innovations in logistics play a critical role in enhancing operational efficiency, reducing emissions, and facilitating integration between government entities and the private sector in economic activities. This ultimately contributes to creating promising opportunities for entrepreneurship and boosting economic growth rates.

Dr. Amani Eissa, Director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center at EUI, stated that the summit is sponsored by AGL, a subsidiary of MSC, and organized by Corelia, a Ricoh Group company, in collaboration with EUI’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center. The event brings together a large number of innovators, researchers, investors, and leaders from logistics technology companies. She pointed out that the summit's agenda includes a session dedicated to innovation in logistics operations and another showcasing the capabilities of Egyptian companies operating in logistics technology. Additionally, it features B2B matchmaking sessions to connect investors with innovators in the field. The summit concludes with a high-level roundtable bringing together senior government officials and CEOs of major global companies to discuss two key topics: collaboration opportunities with Egypt to support logistics innovation and the available investment opportunities in the local market.

Dr. Eissa highlighted that the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center supports numerous AI projects that enhance the contribution of Egypt’s ICT and business technology sectors to GDP and exports. She stressed that the center aims, through the summit, to attract non-traditional funding channels for Egyptian projects, particularly from major local and international companies operating in logistics technology. It also aims to explore the latest innovations in the logistics sector and address the technical challenges facing the industry, especially amid regional disruptions and global instability affecting transportation and shipping systems, while discussing how to mitigate the impacts of these crises on supply chains.

In this context, Eng.. Gamal Mokhimer, Chief Technology Officer at Corelia, said, "We believe that innovation in the logistics sector requires a constant search for the most creative and groundbreaking ideas. Our participation in organizing this important summit reflects our deep belief in the need to develop advanced technological solutions that keep pace with global developments and meet the needs of both the Egyptian and regional markets."

Mokhimer added, "Through this summit, we aim to discover and support unconventional ideas and innovative solutions that can bring a qualitative leap in logistics operational efficiency, whether through the application of AI technologies, IoT, or advanced digital solutions. Our goal is to establish a stimulating environment for creativity that combines local and global expertise to help realize Egypt’s Vision 2030 for digital transformation."

He also pointed out that "Corelia’s affiliation with the Ricoh Group gives us access to the latest technologies and advanced solutions in digital printing, document management, and smart automation. We benefit greatly from Ricoh’s extensive technological expertise, built over more than 85 years of innovation, particularly in developing IoT and AI solutions that enhance logistics operations and supply chain management."

Meanwhile, Dr. Mohamed Mamdouh, Director of Research and Development at Corelia, stressed the importance of investing in scientific research and technological development to build a sustainable future for Egypt’s logistics sector. He stated, "The challenges facing the logistics sector today require innovative scientific solutions based on solid research foundations. At Corelia, we heavily invest in R&D projects to design and develop new technologies that leverage AI and big data analytics to optimize supply chains and improve logistics operational efficiency."

Dr. Mamdouh added, "We firmly believe that Egypt possesses exceptional scientific and technological talents capable of leading digital transformation in the region. Through this summit, we seek to strengthen collaboration between universities, research centers, and technology companies to create a research-driven environment that fosters innovation. Our ultimate goal is to develop smart, sustainable logistics solutions that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and enhancing Egypt’s competitiveness as a regional logistics hub."
