EUI’s team wins in MOHESR’s Cybersecurity competition

The last day of Cairo ICT was such a great day! We witnessed the victory of three of our students at one of the Cybersecurity competition rounds organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on 30th of November 2022 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center.

Prof. Mohamed El-Sharkawi, Vice-President of Egypt University of Informatics, congratulated the winners on their respectable participation in this competition organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in addition to their excellence in various forums and their outstanding representation of the university, which aligns with the advanced academic programs that make them competitive in the major competitions both locally and internationally.

El-Sharkawi stressed that Egypt University of Informatics is keen to participate in and compete in these essential competitions held by the State represented by the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research. EUI is preparing a generation of graduates who can deal with the future in all its developments, in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030, thus securing them to be at the forefront of working in this sector globally.

Prof. Hoda Mokhtar, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences, explained that the winning team consists of three students Mohammad Ashraf Ismail, a First-Year Student at the Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences, Karim Mohamed El-Kenani and Fouad Ahmed Ali, first-year students at the Faculty of Engineering. They had done an outstanding job by winning over the other team at one of the competition’s rounds and answering the highest number of questions within 30 seconds, which was not easy; However, they managed to make it happen.

Moreover, Prof. Amr El-Masry, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, noted that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; targeted the Cybersecurity competition, Publicizing the fundamentals of how to prevent cyber-attacks from occurring at the individual level and being aware of how to avoid them, thereby contributing to raising the efficiency of young people’s cadres to lead the technology and information sector in the future.

Egypt University of Informatics is the first specialized university in the Middle East and Africa in Communications, Information Technology, and affected areas. It was established by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to become a leading academic institution offering specialized educational programs, to meet the needs of the labor market of state-of-the-art ICT specialists based in the Knowledge City at the New Administrative Capital.

EUI has four faculties: (Computing and Information Sciences, Engineering, Business Informatics, Digital Arts & Design), offering 16 specialized educational programs to meet the need of the labor market from specialists in the latest fields of ICT such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Engineering, Electronics Industry &Communications, Business Analytics, Digital Marketing, Animation Arts, User Experience and Electronic Game Design.
