EUI welcomES a high-level delegation from Cisco

Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) had the honor of welcoming a high-level delegation from Cisco, the global leader in networking and cybersecurity. The visit reflects EUI’s ongoing commitment to expanding cooperation with leading international technology companies and research centers, in support of Egypt’s national goals for digital transformation and participation in the global AI revolution.

Prof. Reem Bahgat, President of EUI, emphasized the university’s openness to collaboration with all global companies in the ICT sector, stating: "Our aim is to broaden our global partner network, particularly with international research institutions, to contribute to the national strategy led by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. This strategy is centered on enabling a competitive knowledge-based economy and adopting transformative technologies like AI and quantum computing.”

Prof. Bahgat noted that EUI has quickly become a key destination for international companies and universities. The university is now a regular stop for visiting global delegations eager to explore partnerships with its faculties and research centers—particularly in the high-priority areas of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

The Cisco delegation included Eng. Mohamed Kamel, Regional Director for Egypt, Libya, and Sudan; and Francine Katsoudas, Executive Vice President and Chief People, Policy & Purpose Officer. They were welcomed by Prof. Ahmed Hamad, EUI Vice President; Prof. Hoda Mokhtar, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences; Prof. Amr ElSherif, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Amal ElGammal, Head of International Relations; and Dr. Amani Eissa, Head of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center. During the visit, both sides discussed potential collaboration in offering specialized summer training programs for students and leveraging EUI’s advanced labs and research capabilities.

Prof. Reem Bahgat highlighted that EUI possesses world-class academic infrastructure—ranging from state-of-the-art labs and lecture halls to cutting-edge training equipment and, most importantly, a strong team of expert faculty and researchers. These resources position EUI as an ideal partner for Cisco in training and upskilling Egyptian youth.

Dr. Amal ElGammal presented EUI’s strategic vision to the Cisco team, emphasizing the university’s focus on international collaboration and knowledge exchange. She noted that EUI’s capabilities make it a strong candidate for close cooperation with global institutions, particularly in digital training and computer science applications.

She added that the university operates under a framework designed to empower students through continuous learning and skills development, enhancing their competitiveness in both local and global job markets. In addition, EUI supports students in becoming entrepreneurs by helping them transform ideas into real ventures. As part of this commitment, the university has recently launched a startup incubator offering legal, technical, and financial support.

The Cisco delegation expressed their admiration for EUI’s advanced technological infrastructure, its outstanding academic and research capabilities, and its clear vision for investing in human capital. They also expressed their eagerness to initiate collaboration with EUI in the near future.
