Metaverse Startup Competition 2023

About XR for Good

With the valuable collaboration of the Ministry of communications and Information Technology,  Egypt University of Informatics and with its partners Meta, American University in Cairo, the Metaverse Academy and Simplon.co, invite all innovative Metaverse-related startups to compete in the upcoming “XR for Good: Metaverse Startup Competition 2023,” which will be held from 21 August to 14th of September 2023. The competition is open to  all startups who use immersive technologies and  metaverse solutions in their business models across various industries, to align with one or several of the UN Sustainable Development goals. Examples include but are not limited to:

1. Creating immersive learning experiences: how can we enhance teaching experiences using immersive technologies including gamification and/or other methods?
2. Augmenting the tourism economy: how can we create learning experiences surrounding Egypt’s most famous monuments and national heritage sites?
3. Scaling up educational access to wider audiences: how can we provide opportunities to wider audiences to gain world-class training across various fields such as medical or vocational training. 
4. Assisting Urban Development: how can virtual staging facilitate better living experiences. This includes simulation on urban and home design, furnishing and landscaping. 
5. Gaming: how can XR help create new and exciting spaces for people to connect through play.
6. Civic Tech: how can XR empower civil society players and city planners to deliver better experiences for citizens 
7. Environment: how can XR be used to raise awareness about environmental challenges and inspire sustainable practices within companies 
8. Industry Safety: how can XR improve safety and remote collaboration opportunities within industry.
9. Accessibility and Inclusion: How can XR provide unexpected opportunities and new chances for people with special needs and talents

The competition is held in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT)

Awards

10,000 USD grand prize for the winning startup 

There will be opportunities for the startups with the highest ranks to qualify and join the incubation,  research and development programs of the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID), in the Knowledge City at the New Administrative Capital. NAID is a center of excellence for supportive technologies, equipped with the latest technologies for the application of "Metaverse"
