EUI opens an "IEEE Student Branch" to support engineering innovations

 

Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) has obtained the approval of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers ( IEEE) to establish and open an IEEE Student Branch at the university in the Knowledge City at the New Administrative Capital to continue its efforts and endeavor to support innovation and entrepreneurship in modern technological sectors at the regional and global levels.

For her part, Prof. Reem Bahgat, President of Egypt University of Informatics, described the opening of the IEEE Student Branch at the University as a good step, which contributes to cooperation in various areas, notably, the contribution of EUI in organizing and hosting the activities of IEEE, organizing conferences and sessions, allowing EUI students to participate in various IEEE activities, and to be engaged in practical training opportunities.

Prof. Bahgat highlighted that EUI would harness all its capabilities and potential to cooperate with IEEE optimally to maximize the desired benefit for our students and fulfill the university vision and its policies' aspirations by extending the bridges of communication with prestigious institutions. This step is part of the vision and objectives of EUI to enhance communication effectiveness with the external community to serve the academic and educational process at the university.

She also added: "We are steadily moving towards achieving our strategic goals through integrated talent discovery programs and pitching innovators with ideas and pioneering projects in defining the digital future, especially as the launch of the IEEE Student Branch at the University is the seed for an integrated system that includes many training, qualification and educational activities for our students in the faculties of Engineering, Business Informatics and Computing and Information Sciences."

Prof. Amr El-Masry, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at EUI, explained the importance of deepening relations between the University and the IEEE Institute Egypt Branch to promote scientific knowledge, serving our student community, and helping to create a better tomorrow by applying professional and educational activities in accordance with the highest standards of quality and technology. This is based on the University's belief that the promotion and dissemination of IoT and AI applications contribute to the growth of the current and future economy.

Dr. Mohamed Ismail, Academic at the Faculty of Engineering and Supervising the IEEE Student Branch at the University, noted that Egypt is always ready to embrace and support the IEEE's work and activities and all scientific and social activities in the community to create new opportunities to exchange experiences, bring creative ideas and support student projects and activities. The new branch of IEEE at EUI will be an integrated program to build students' capacities and support their graduation projects.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is a professional technical science and engineering association with over 365,000 members in more than 150 countries.

Egypt University of Informatics is the first specialized university in the Middle East and Africa in Communications, Information Technology, and their affected areas.
