EUI Welcomes Mr. Sangbu Kim, Vice President of the World Bank for Digital Transformation
Mr. Sangbu Kim, Vice President of the World Bank for Digital Transformation, visited EUI's campus today. This visit was part of his current mission to Egypt, leading a delegation from the World Bank to closely examine Egypt's efforts in digital transformation, developing digital infrastructure, raising digital awareness, enhancing digital skills, establishing data centers, and fostering collaboration between the Egyptian ICT sector and the World Bank. Prof. Ahmed Hamad, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Amal El-Gammal, Head of the International Relations department welcomed him and his accompanying delegation.
Commenting on the visit, Prof. Reem Bahgat, EUI's President, emphasized the importance of the partnership between Egypt and the World Bank. This collaboration allows Egypt to benefit from the financial and technical services provided by the bank and its network of global research partners, which is critical for supporting Egypt's efforts to bridge the digital and knowledge gap. This is especially significant given the rapid global developments, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and the increasing importance of artificial intelligence in various industries and services, which enhances the competitiveness of labor markets, production sectors, and national economies worldwide.
She added that EUI is keen on expanding its global network of partners, particularly with international research centers, and relies on the World Bank's support to achieve this goal. This effort contributes to Egypt's strategy of leveraging digital transformation to boost the competitiveness of the national economy and establish mechanisms that support the transition to a knowledge-based economy.
