A Group of EUIans visit Egypt’s Defence Summit – 4th Edition

A group of students from the four faculties had the exceptional opportunity to visit EDEX 2025, the Middle East’s leading defense industries exhibition, held in Cairo in its fourth edition

Prof. Ahmed Hamad, Acting President of EUI, emphasized the importance of ensuring that students in technological and applied fields—particularly Engineering, Computing and Information Sciences, and Digital Arts & Design remain closely aligned with global developments in defense industries. These sectors are advancing rapidly each day, driven by artificial intelligence, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and their growing overlap with civilian applications, such as unmanned aerial systems.

He highlighted that EUI was keen to have a large number of its students attend EDEX 2025 so they could explore the latest innovations in defense technologies, especially those related to AI. Such exposure is vital for students who are eager to understand emerging global technologies that enrich scientific research and sharpen their skills in areas relevant to their future careers—whether in reverse engineering, or in designing digital experiences and video games that showcase the heritage and achievements of the Egyptian Armed Forces.

Prof. Hamad also praised the exhibition organizers for inviting students from Egyptian universities, particularly technology-focused institutions, to attend and engage in its activities. He noted that this initiative offers a valuable opportunity for young people to learn about advancements in Egypt’s defense sector, an experience that strengthens their sense of pride, belonging, and motivation to excel in their studies and future careers.
