Fieldtrip to Unilever Plant for BI 3rd Year Students

For students studying business strategy, few lessons are as powerful as seeing it in action. That is exactly what third-year business informatics students at EUI experienced during a visit to the Unilever plant—a company whose products reach millions of households across the globe.

The visit, organized as part of their business strategy course, offered students a rare opportunity to move beyond textbook frameworks and observe how a market leader actually operates, makes decisions, and sustains its competitive edge in an increasingly demanding market.

During the tour, students explored how Unilever approaches innovation, manages large-scale operations, and adapts its strategy to shifting consumer expectations and competitive pressures. The visit gave concrete context to concepts discussed in class—from value chain analysis to competitive positioning and operational excellence.

At EUI, experiential learning is considered a cornerstone of a well-rounded business education. Industry visits of this kind are designed to complement academic instruction by exposing students to real-world complexity, preparing them for the challenges they will face as future business professionals.
