In a new sporting achievement for Egypt University of Informatics, Egypt, two of its students won silver and bronze medals at the 1st Egypt International Junior Badminton Championship, which concluded last week at the Police Sports Federation Hall, with the participation of 112 male and female players from 12 countries.

Prof. Ahmed Hamad, Acting President of Egypt University of Informatics, stated that Reem Hussein, a second-year student at the Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences, won the only silver medal for Egypt in the Girls’ Doubles event, while Mostafa Ahmed, a second-year student at the Faculty of Business Informatics, secured the bronze medal in the Boys’ Doubles event. This raised Egypt’s total medal count in the championship to 8 silver and 7 bronze medals.

He added that this is a significant accomplishment for EUI, especially as it comes in the inaugural edition of a championship that Egypt is expected to host annually. This makes the achievement even more special, as it reflects the outstanding performance of EUI’s student-athletes and adds another honor to the university. It also reaffirms the decision of many Egyptian athletes who chose to study at EUI, benefiting from its supportive academic environment for sports activities and its flexible study system designed to accommodate athletes’ training schedules and tournament commitments.

Prof. Hamad extended his congratulations to Reem Hussein and Mostafa Ahmed for their remarkable performance throughout the championship, which culminated in their second- and third-place finishes. He wished them—and all EUI athletes—continued success both academically and athletically.

It is worth noting that the championship saw participation from players representing 12 countries, including Algeria, India, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Nigeria, Mauritius, and Egypt, the hosting country.
