Dr. Amal Elgammal Attends French Embassy's National Day Celebration

Dr. Amal Elgammal, Head of International Relations at the Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) and Head of the Software Engineering Department, was invited to attend the French National Day celebration hosted by the Embassy of France in Egypt, held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the Embassy's residence in Cairo.

The annual "Fête Nationale" reception marked the 236th anniversary of Bastille Day and brought together ministers, governors, ambassadors, and senior figures from Egypt's political, economic, and academic communities, alongside representatives of major French and international companies with a presence in Egypt. The garden of the French residence was transformed for the occasion, with a striking canopy of red, white, and blue umbrellas suspended over the reception grounds; French-themed pavilions; and a display area showcasing French automotive brands, including Renault, Citroën, and DS Automobiles.

Dr. Elgammal's presence at the celebration reflects the deepening academic and institutional ties between EUI and France—a partnership that has grown steadily in recent years across engineering, technology, and digital innovation.

Under Dr. Elgammal's leadership of EUI's International Relations Office, the university has built an expanding network of cooperation agreements with leading French institutions, most notably:

  • CESI, the French engineering school ranked 54th among global engineering institutions, with which EUI has signed a cooperation agreement covering dual-degree programs at the bachelor's and master's levels, joint curricula, student and faculty exchange, and collaborative research in fields such as artificial intelligence and health technology.

  • ISART Digital, ranked as the world's second-best school specializing in video game development, with which EUI's memorandum of understanding spans training in digital game development, 3D animation, game data and AI, and the social impact of gaming technologies—extending across EUI's four faculties.

Recent engagements have translated this cooperation into concrete outcomes. During a visit by a CESI delegation led by the school's Director General, Jean-Marc Ogier, the two sides finalized plans to launch dual-degree bachelor's and master's programs starting in the coming academic year, selected the first cohort of EUI students for a study mission to France, and secured Microsoft funding to cover scholarships for that inaugural group. The visit also included a discussion of joint doctoral supervision arrangements beginning in 2027 and a French commitment to open opportunities with CESI's network of more than 8,000 industry partners for Egyptian students seeking internships and employment.

Representatives of the French Embassy in Cairo have taken part in these university-level meetings, underscoring the embassy's role in supporting the broader academic relationship between Egypt and France that events such as the National Day celebration are designed to celebrate.
