Dr. Amani Eissa Explores the Future of Skills at Meta Regional AI Summit
Dr. Amani Eissa, Founding Member of Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) and Director of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center, participated as one of the distinguished panelists in the session titled “The Future of Skills: What the AI Economy Means for Emerging Talent Across Africa, the Middle East, and Türkiye.” The session was part of the Meta Regional AI Summit, held earlier this week at the Museum of the Future in Dubai. This landmark gathering brought together innovators, educators, and policymakers to explore how Artificial Intelligence is transforming economies and reshaping employability across the region.
During the discussion, Dr. Amani and fellow panelists examined how AI is redefining the meaning of work in an era of rapid automation and innovation. While global forecasts predict significant job creation, with the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025 estimating 170 million net new jobs globally, the need for massive reskilling remains clear, as nearly 40% of workers will require new capabilities within the next five years. The conversation explored which skills truly matter in the AI age, how AMET (Africa, Middle East, and Türkiye) economies are redefining talent pipelines, and how governments, educational institutions, and technology platforms can collaborate to future-proof the workforce.
Dr. Amani emphasized that AI fluency, data literacy, and creative problem-solving are fast becoming essential skills, surpassing traditional “learn-to-code” pathways, as the region’s youthful and entrepreneurial populations seek to harness AI’s transformative potential.
In addition to her role as a panelist, Dr. Amani Eissa also served as one of the judges for the Llama Design Drive Program, a regional AI design competition supported by Meta and Startupbootcamp MENA, which awarded Rology, the winning team, the grand prize of $100,000 for its AI-powered healthcare solutions.
This participation reflects EUI’s ongoing commitment to thought leadership, innovation, and regional collaboration in advancing the future of digital skills and AI-driven education.
