Pre-Math Course for High School Students
Summer 2023
The Objectives of the Course:
This course addresses students who believe they need to strengthen their Math knowledge for the school-to-university transition, especially topics essential to Calculus 1 that should have been treated in the pre-university core courses.
Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1) Learn the basic definitions and identities of trigonometric functions.
2) Evaluate the limits of elementary functions from their expressions and graphs.
3) Recognize the different equations of conic sections.
Textbook(s): ● Stewart, Precalculus: Mathematics for Calculus, 7th Edition.
Lectures: ● PPT presentations.
● Class notes.
Who is eligible to apply?
• Holders of Arab certificates
• American Diploma students
• IGCSE students excluding those who took Maths and Physics at the Advanced level (AL)
Duration:
• Each course will last for two weeks (4 days per week- 4 hours daily)
• The course starts on 3 September 2023
