The Faculty of Digital Arts and Design participate in the "Living together
in the Future" conference
Forty-five students from the Faculty of Digital Arts and Design at Egypt University of
Informatics (EUI) participated in the workshop and conference entitled "Living Together
in the Future". Nottingham Trent University (NTU) in the UK organized the conference in
collaboration with Galala University, under the auspices of UNESCO, to try to find
solutions to the climate change crisis and raise awareness through artistic and creative
work, which contributes to the risk and gravity of remaining unaddressed.
The artworks, paintings, and posters of the students of the Faculty of Digital Arts and
Design at Egypt University of Informatics participated in the virtual conference, received
great admiration from representatives of Nottingham Trent University (NTU).
Participants emphasized that these works are remarkable in their artistic value, with
their meanings that include the message that those interested in the issue of climate
want to reach all human beings, as these paintings possess a universal artistic language.
Prof. Ashraf Zaki, Dean of the Faculty of Digital Arts and Design at EUI, said: "Digital Arts
and Design can offer something extraordinarily unique to this issue, especially since the
phenomena of climate change and environmental pollution are difficult to observe in
our daily lives because most people do not live in the locations that have the strongest
impact, making the arts in general and digital art in particular play an important role in
expressing the need to address their danger through modern artistic tools."
Dr. Fatma Hamdy, Digital Design Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Digital Arts and
Design at EUI and the academic Supervisor of the artwork, which participated in the
conference, confirmed that 45 students participated in great art posters in a creative
session exploring the role of universities in promoting climate-resistant societies.
She explained that participation in this conference took place with the support of the
Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ashraf Zaki, and his keen interest in encouraging students to
have contemporary ideas for projects. She praised the tremendous effort and support of
Islam Abbas and Yosra Abdel Razek, teaching assistants at the faculty, in supporting
students and making them understand SDGs.
She also said: "Climate change is one of the topics that a large part of the population
may not be recognizing its constantly increasing risks. We believe that digital art can say
a lot about this. It can assist people in identifying and communicating with that
significant problem by visualizing invisible objects in everyday life and attaching
variables to them caused by environmental pollution, which EUI students have already
achieved in their artworks”
