Metaverse: A New Era of Digital Marketing lecture by Dr. Nehal Afifi as Distinguished Guest Speaker at AUC School of Business
Dr. Nehal Afifi, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Business Informatics at Egypt University of Informatics, was invited as a distinguished guest speaker to give a lecture entitled "Metaverse: A New Era of Digital Marketing to students of the AUC School of Business.
Metaverse is considered the next big breakthrough in the evolution of the internet. Experts across the globe consider that metaverse relies on seven technologies: 5G communication, brain-computer interfaces, virtual reality, blockchain, cloud computing, digital twins, and artificial intelligence.
Dr. Nehal has pointed out in her lecture to the AUC School of Business students that Marketers always strive to be up-to-date with the latest technological advancements. It's no wonder that the prospect of metaverse marketing has become a hot topic in the digital marketing world.
As the future becomes digitized, traditional marketing tools like TV and print advertisements will become obsolete, and new innovative digital marketing tools will take over.
She added, "As the line between the real and virtual world is increasingly blurred, the metaverse is set to become a place where people spend more of their time, experience brands, and even buy virtual products."
Brands are turning their digital marketing strategy towards the metaverse to stay relevant to a millennial or Gen Z audience, considered to be the most enthusiastic adopters of the metaverse.
Gen Z consumers spend twice as much time socially interacting in the metaverse as in real life. Although many users may be young, their influence and purchasing power will grow.
On the business side, Dr. Nehal explained that with the help of metaverses, the digital marketing space would take on a whole new look. It will enable companies to connect with their customers in new and decentralized ways.
