EUI Welcomes the Vice-Dean of Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa

Egypt University of Informatics welcomed, over two days at its
headquarters in Knowledge City at the New Administrative Capital, Dr.
Umar Ruhi, Vice- Dean of the Telfer School of Management at the
University of Ottawa, to explore ways of academic cooperation,
exchange expertise in scientific research and academic visits in
addition to holding an open discussion seminar for students of the
Faculty of Business Informatics.
Prof. Reem Bahgat, President of Egypt University of Informatics,
welcomed Dr. Umar Ruhi, the Vice-Dean of Telfer School of
Management at the University of Ottawa, and highly praised the
importance of these visits, which contribute to enhancing the
prospects for cooperation between the two universities at all levels.
Prof. Reem Bahgat stressed EUI’s keenness to share educational and
research knowledge and expertise with prestigious international
academic institutions, which is reflected positively in the development
of the educational process and the adoption of leadership thinking.
She pointed out that the visit complemented the university’s approach
to achieving Egypt’s 2030 strategy in reaching international standards.
The open discussion took place between the students of the Faculty
of Business Informatics and Dr. Umar Ruhi, the Vice-Dean of the
Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa, in the
presence of Prof. Mohamed El-Sharkawi, Vice-President of the
University for Academic Affairs, Prof. Samaa Taher, Dean of the
Faculty of Business Informatics, Prof. Amr Elmasry Dean of the
Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Hoda Mokhtar Dean of the Faculty of
Computing and Information Sciences and Prof. Ashraf Zaki Dean of
the Faculty of Digital Arts and Design, Dr. Amal Al-Gammal Head of
the Software Engineering program and Director of International
Relations at the University, and other academic staff members.
Dr. Umar Ruhi, the Vice-Dean of the Telfer School of Management at
the University of Ottawa in Canada, praised the excellence of the
Faculty of Business Informatics Programs at Egypt University of
Informatics in terms of the quality and disciplines it offers, the
relationship with industry and the mixing of academic education with

practical training. He stressed the importance of this visit in laying the
foundations for cooperation between the two universities.

Prof. Samaa Taher, Dean of the Faculty of Business Informatics at
Egypt University of Informatics, gave a presentation on academic
programs and disciplines covered by the faculty, ways to prepare
students, qualify them and refine their skills for the science of the
future and how to deal with the changes the world will experience in
the coming years. She is pleased about the visit of the Vice-Dean of
the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa - ranked
in the top 1% of universities worldwide.
Dr. Umar Ruhi also presented a scientific lecture entitled “Fruitful use
of Games in institutions”. Dr. Nehal Afifi, Assistant Professor at the
Faculty of Business Informatics, also gave a scientific lecture entitled
“Business Process Management for perceived resources.”
Dr. Amal Al-Gammal, Head of the Software Engineering program and
Director of International Relations at Egypt University of Informatics,
explained that the University of Ottawa is one of the oldest Canadian
universities and the largest bilingual university in the world, adopting
French and English for teaching, It offers a comprehensive set of
undergraduate and postgraduate programs, featuring a diverse and
comprehensive student entity that each year receives more than 40
thousand international students representing more than 150 countries.
More than 350 academic programs cover all fields.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt University of Informatics is the first
specialized university in the Middle East and Africa in
Communications and Information Technology and their affected fields.
It is located in Knowledge City at the New Administrative Capital.
Egypt University of Informatics includes four faculties: (Computing and
Information Sciences, Engineering, Business Informatics, Digital Arts,
and Design) offering 16 specialized educational programs to meet the
labor market needs of specialists in the latest information and
communication technology fields, such as Artificial Intelligence, Data
Science and Engineering, Electronics Industry and Engineering.
Communication, Business Analytics, Digital Marketing, Animation
Arts, User Experience, and Game Design.
